Thank you very much for being part of a wonderful experience....
Like I said during the presentation, this workshop is not so much about gaining new knowledge as about discovering ourselves and realizing how blessed we are.
While there are many forms and styles of leadership, and many sizes of teams, probably one of the hardest persons to lead is oneself. And that is because while many of us want the fruits of leadership - we are unwillingly to go through the trials and rigor of reaching there. Everyone sees the glory of the athlete who wins the gold medal - no one sees him practice for 18 hours a day, years on end.
While climbing a mountain - it is easy to maintain status quo; easier still to descent but it is tough to climb higher. Because with every step up, the air gets more rarified, it is harder, the risks are more and at times it is lonelier. So why do climbers climb? Some obviously do it for the material gains. But most of them do it because it makes life worth living and exciting.
I once had an instructor who was the calmest person ever , never seen him excited or angry. But in a football field he would be so completely passionate and involved that it seemed he crammed more excitement in those 90 minutes than many of us do in months. While he was playing he would curse when you missed a pass, leap with joy, cry with frustration and fight every inch to get the ball into the goal. He lived those 90 minutes 100%. In many ways, he taught us that, that is a pre-requisite to leadership. Just giving it that 100% and always finding energy for just a little more.
This workshop - like any other - can only give that 'whack on the head' to remind us that days, weeks and months are being cut away from our lives and we are probably not noticing the difference. What we do with that whack is always upto us.
I would be keen to know how it made a difference to you.
